The Rockingham Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team is comprised of volunteer members of the Rockingham Police Department. Training for this team includes such disciplines as sniper training, tactical weapons training, dynamic entry, etc. All team members have received basic and advanced SWAT school certification. The R.P.D. SWAT Team is equipped with the latest police tactical hardware and techniques.
The primary goal of the R.P.D. SWAT Team is the the diffusion of high-risk situations and the safety of all persons involved.
The R.P.D. SWAT Team responds when the circumstances go outside of the normal parameters of patrol and investigative duties. This may include such situations as drug raids, hostage situations, high-risk warrant service, tracking of escaped criminals, or other volatile incidents.
The SWAT Team is constantly training in order to ready itself for any event.
