The Rockingham Police Department has applied for a grant through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program to help with costs associated in the upgrade of our computer systems technology.
The goals of this project are to upgrade the current software being used. The software currently being used was installed in November of 2000 with no updates as of the current date. With the addition of the new software, telecommunicators will be more efficient by monitoring officers while on patrol utilizing a Global Positioning System (GPS). The GPS system can also be used for mapping calls and allowing officers to be more efficient by using the Division of Criminal Information Network from their patrol cars. This will allow officers to check vehicle registrations, driver's license information, check for wanted persons, stolen weapons and other information available.
The majority of the cost will be absorbed by the Police Department, with only $11,103.00 being federal grant monies. Below is the Budget Details for the project:
